I want a private tour. What do I need to do?

You’ve come to the right place! Every one of our tours is private: just you, your travel companions and the guide.

Find and book your perfect private tour in 3 EASY STEPS:

STEP 1: Enter your destination (we have guides in over 1000 cities, and 160 different countries!)

STEP 2: Browse through the available tours; you can filter by date, special interest, length of tour, activity level, and more. Alternatively, you can browse guide profiles, choosing the professional who most closely matches your travel interests.

STEP 3: Book and pay online for your selected tour, or send a direct message to any guide to design a customized itinerary for you.

Can I phone the guide?

Our guides appreciate the convenience of a phone conversation; however, they would prefer to communicate by email.

Taking into consideration their full schedules, time zone differences and the busy nature of being an in-demand guide in high season, our hardworking guides find that having an email conversation is the most effective way to meet multiple needs in a balanced and efficient manner.

Having all communication in written form also ensures there’s a clear record of all expectations set between traveller and guide.

Thanks to our extensive screening and recruitment process, Batende Charter and Tours can assure its travellers that ALL of our guides are fluent in the English language, and for your peace-of-mind, the guide’s cell phone number is provided to our travellers for emergency calls only once the tour is booked and confirmed.

Am I able to share the cost of the tour with other travellers?

 Yes, we can facilitate split payments by different travellers; however, in order to ensure that the tour will be a complete success, the lead traveller (coordinator) must assume certain responsibilities.

After I have booked a tour, can I invite others to join me?

 This depends upon whether or not the guide can accommodate your request for additional people – especially if private transportation is involved.

To avoid disappointment, you must seek approval from the guide to add more people, before the tour date.

How are tours priced?

The services of each private guide is calculated using a ‘flat rate’ rather than a ‘per person’ charge. So the prices you see are PER TOUR, not per person.

Some private tours may incorporate ‘per person’ charges, but only if there is a valid reason to do so. For example, if the guide pays in advance for items such as entrance fees, equipment rentals and the like, they’ll need to add a ‘per person’ charge to their price. These types of tours usually have a drop-down menu under the pricing section that clearly indicates the ‘per person’ charges along with an explanation.

Any costs that are not included in the total price will be listed under the “What’s Extra” section of the tour description.

My booking confirmation needs to be corrected. What should I do?

 The tour date that I want to book is marked ‘unavailable’. What should I do?

Contact the guide.

As freelance guide-partners with Batende Charter and Tours, they are responsible for keeping their availability up-to-date. The guide-partner may be unavailable during your visit OR, s/he may not have updated their availability and could very well be available to assist you.

How do I get a refund?

 You may be eligible to receive a full or partial refund depending upon:

• the reason for your cancellation
• the number of days prior to the start of the tour your cancellation request is received by Customer Support
• the amount of non-refundable upfront costs that the guide-partner incurred as a result of preparing for your tour
• the cancellation policy option you chose at the time of booking
